On Sunday morning (in SOMA), Bill mentioned a Spiritual Gifts Assessment linked on the Pinedale website. I will link that Assessement below, but before I do, let me say a quick word:
We are never more like God than when we give. I am convinced of that! God calls us to reach outside of ourselves and love sacrificially. That means giving, which obviously includes money/material things, but goes so far beyond that. If following Christ was only about financial sacrifice, it would be EASY. Instead, though, God calls us to give all of ourselves – to give everything that we have to give!
With that in mind, God has gifted each of us in unique ways, so that we can come together to form a functioning Body of Believers. (See 1st Corinthians 12). EACH ONE OF US is able to serve, because the Holy Spirit ministers through us. Understand, God does not NEED us – He can do whatever He chooses – but we are privliged to be used by Him to spread the Good News of the Gospel.
So what are your strengths? How has God gifted YOU? Here is the survey. (The survey is accessed at the bottom of the page). It is not perfect, but it will help you identify ways that you can effectively serve in your Church and community. Here is the introduction from Pinedale’s website:
God gives every Christian Spiritual Gifts to use in His service. Do you know what Spiritual Gifts God has given you? This Spiritual Gifts Assessment will help you determine what Spiritual Gift(s) and/or Special Talent(s) God has given you. This Assessment evalutates 16 Gifts and Talents found in the new Testament.
The assessment is designed for Christians. if you have been a Christian for at least a few years, you should use your personal experiences as the basis for your repsonses. If you consider yourself to be a new Christian, then your responses should be based on how well each statement describes the desire of your heart (even if you have not yet done what the statement talks about).
Please keep in mind that this assessment was written by people, not by God, and as such it is certainly imperfect. It should be used as a starting place to begin to discover how God has gifted you, but not as an absolute indicator. The assessment may not always indicate your true Spiritual Gift(s). It is just one tool in what should be a life-long search for how God has blessed you so you can bless others.
A copy of your assessment scores will be sent to Danny Spainhour, our Involvement Minister.
